I was nominated by Tarryn Hunt from Mum’s That Care who has a son called Samuel aged 9. Samuel was struggling with his times tables and division at school so Tarryn played some football maths times tables games with him. This is what she said about the games:
Samuel (Age 9) has been playing the multiplication and division football games.
I initially picked out the 6 & 7 x tables to give him a range of easy, and harder. I was thrilled to see the results from playing this game, because his love of football meant that he actually wanted to play, and the repetition (particularly with division) meant that his tables and division facts knowledge is increasing on a regular basis.
At Sam’s school they have Maths passports and ‘tables of the week’ so the game synchronizes perfectly with these. I am also pleased to say that Sam has now gone up a level in his maths, and I am confident that the games have contributed to this considerably.
I am thrilled to the moon and back that Sam went up a group in maths and also that he WANTED to play the games to get better and win.
Here’s hoping that Let Me Learn will win the award in Birmingham on 28th March 2015. Looking forward to it!
The award I am in the final for is Product of the Year. The products are available on 2 different CD’s and available as downloads. This is so teachers can by a CD for class and parents can choose exactly what they want for a few pennies
