A Year 3 workbook providing questions and activities to help children develop and practise their enquiry skills. Follows the QCA Scheme of Work for Science.

This workbook is designed to help children in Year 3 master investigative skills and apply what they are learning to a range of different enquiries. The book is divided into sections, each mapped to the QCA Scheme of Work for Science. Each section begins with an introduction to the topic, giving a basic idea of the skills and content covered. The investigation is then described, providing all the data needed to answer the questions that follow. A flow chart shows children how best to approach the investigation. Hints and tips give further useful ideas and advice.

The questions themselves get harder as you work through the page. Section 1 questions are often multiple choice and cover the basic elements of the investigation; section 2 questions are slightly harder and ask children for more information. Section 3 contains the hardest questions, usually related to data handling and often needing children to complete a graph or chart to get full marks. Activity pages follow at the end of each section offering a skills checklist, key points to remember and a 'Did you know' section with interesting facts. Ideal for revision and homework.

Answers to all the questions are listed at the end of the book
